Drove up to San Francisco for a few days of skating and Omar's shoe release party. Cold and windy here but always a good time in the city.

Stopped by Deluxe. This is Morford's vaut / office. It's all business in here.

Then a preview of the new Krook3d vid.

Can't wait to see this.

Tommy, Mic-e, and Jim. A classic lineup with Phelps trying to get a piece.

Earthless played a mind blowing set.

Mario Rubalcaba on drums. Must see it to believe it!

A couple of good dudes, Tommy & Reda.

An attempt at a Julien photo.

Dylan showed up for a last-minute surprise.

It was an awesome night. Congrats Omar!!!

A few photos from November 5, 2008. Omar and I spent the day at home with J Mascis while Sarah Palin was quickly losing her shot at the Vice Presidency.

Heading east or west, I can't remember. This was during one of the longer US road trips filming for Mind Field- two or three weeks, cross-country. I wish I would have kept a journal. Note the hat and the headphones (connected to a CD walkman).

Last September a few of us went up to Sacramento to stay at Stefans for the weekend. I'd made this little movie from the trip but accidently deleted it- or thought I did- however now it turns out I'd just saved it under the wrong name. So anyway, here it is- a lot of what goes on when nothing's going on. Don't expect much skating- I always put the pocket digi away when it's hammertime.
Arto Saari, Stefan Janoski, Omar Salazar, Jon Goemann, Dylan Rieder, Brandon Biebel, Sammy Winter, Reda, Liam, Joe Brook, and little Nathan Hertzler are the subjects.

Earlier I mentioned the 35mm point & shoot camera I bought in Tasmania...
Below are some scans. A little soft around the edges, but a nice look.

Tasmanian slide.

There were lots of long roads thru freshly cut forests, much of the land pillaged.

Wombat!

Camping table / Lake Burbury / Tasmania.

After Tasmania we went to Sydney for the Bondi bowl contest. Both spectators and media endured a blistering sun.

Grant Taylor was there.

As was Jeff Grosso!

Grant taking a rest after an epic padless run. And he didn't make the cut??

Just swam in from Bali.

During Mind Field I got into double exposing both 16mm movie film and 35mm stills. It's easy do to- just shoot the roll, rewind, reload, and shoot again. The results are almost always good. Above is a roll I shot for a 2008 Mikey Taylor ad.
The finished product (designed by Mike Hill) is over here.

Nowadays there's so much sitting in front of a laptop at the end of every day while footage & photos download onto hard drives... So lately I've been making postcards to help cope with the wait, many going to friends at the print exchange.

I shot these with a camera I bought at a thrift store in Tasmania. It was fifteen dollars brand new in the original bag. I shot two rolls and had them processed at a one hour photo. Luckily the camera works. For anyone who travels and shoots photos I highly recommend doing this... it's fun using these old cameras and the best way to make postcards.

I still prefer film but digital can sometimes also make magic... There was no smoke this night when I was out for a walk with my step dad. Santa Fe, NM.
In Hobart, Tasmania at the moment. About to head north for some camping.
Here's some wisdom from Kool Keith for when you have a minute. I completely relate.

When I moved down from SF to LA in 2000 I wasn't shooting many photos. But I did have an Olympus XA that I carried around and I'd shoot stuff from time to time. I recently came across a couple of these rolls, mostly shot during a trip to Paris and Barcelona for Transworld that summer.

A few of us went out to Miami this past weekend in an attempt to avoid the LA winter rains. Here's some footage from the trip, shot on my digi pocket camera and edited on the flight home. Don't expect much skating- it's just a look into what goes down when nothing's going down.
Cast includes AVE, Dylan Reider, Gilbert Crockett, Andrew Allen, Massimo Cavedoni, and Anthony Acosta.
